The name E̜styǟkö Ëk Kez is derived from the Wood Elvish language, as E̜styǟkö Ëk Kez was founded by Gaynor Ghuldrash, who was culturaly Wood Elven.

Climate

E̜styǟkö Ëk Kez has a yearly average temperature of 7°C (44°F), with its average temperature during the summer being an icy 25°C (77°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold -10°C (14°F). E̜styǟkö Ëk Kez receives an average of 291 cm/y (114 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Overview

E̜styǟkö Ëk Kez was founded durring the late 15th century in winter of the year 1385, by Gaynor Ghuldrash. The establishment of E̜styǟkö Ëk Kez was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Gaynor Ghuldrash struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish E̜styǟkö Ëk Kez as a prison colony.

E̜styǟkö Ëk Kez was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the late 15th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and E̜styǟkö Ëk Kez is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

E̜styǟkö Ëk Kez is buildings are arranged arround a network of broad paverstone streets which form a diamond shaped grid, where each diamond verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller diamond has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town is the proud owner of a properly designed set of renforced walls made from mighty querried stone blocks. Their construction and material choices would make a dwarf weap with joy, for each and every part of the elaborate fortifications are purly functional and robust well byond reason. Even nonexperts can tell the walls are an excelent defencive structure. The exceptionaly well made fortifications have not been wellmaintained over the years, and while functional are in dire need of some loving care and perhapse light renovation.

A look around E̜styǟkö Ëk Kez has something terribly wrong with it. It’s impossible to put one’s finger on, but something is horribly wrong. Maybe it’s the way fog blankets the ground, but only in the connors of places. Maybe it’s the vermin scuttling between shadows in the corner of your eyes. Perhaps it’s the overcast sky which seemed to creep out of nowhere, or the distant howling of wolves. Everything is just a little too worn down, a little too dirty, or both. No one makes eye contact. Kids play quietly, but happily. Occasionally a passerby glances at you out of the corner of their eye, staring just long enough for it to be uncomfortable. People seem to be allowed to do as they please with little harmoney to anything. It feels less like a town, and more like a spot people just happened to place their homes. Regardless, you do not feel it would be wise to remain in E̜styǟkö Ëk Kez long.

E̜styǟkö Ëk Kez has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

E̜styǟkö Ëk Kez has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain E̜styǟkö Ëk Kez's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

E̜styǟkö Ëk Kez possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. These lights provide nighttime illumination to most city streets.

E̜styǟkö Ëk Kez has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

E̜styǟkö Ëk Kez has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

E̜styǟkö Ëk Kez's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is best known for its striking sculptural forms and often dazzling ornamental detail that characterizes the buildings general shape. The radiant colors, rich patterns, and symmetrical silhouettes employed by this style were backed up by rich decorative features including gardens, courtyards, extruded arches, domes, pointed domes, vaulted ceilings, elaborate painted and inlaid designs, and decorative sculptures.

Due to the actions of local Kami, autumn is recurring in E̜styǟkö Ëk Kez.

The Hoar Spirit near E̜styǟkö Ëk Kez are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

E̜styǟkö Ëk Kez's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves consuming a local narcotic to channel Elven High Magic energies of tier 3 via divine sermons.
